Winning Money Online With Web Analytics

Instead of looking at web analytics as a tool to make improvements to your web presence, you must look at web analytics as what it would cost your company if you ignored its significance. Would I have your attention, if with the use of web analytics it is possible that your next e-mail campaign would result in 50 percent more revenue than your last e-mail. Think of how much revenue your business is losing because you don’t take advantage of web analytics.

Many companies don’t realize the potential for positive impact that web analytics can have on their business. Often, our ignorance prevents us from acknowledging the potential of web analytics. Companies with defined analytics programs are realizing double-digit growth in new Web site visitors, returning visitor traffic and conversion rates.

With growing pressure to make your marketing efforts, more profitable web analytics is becoming more-and-more critical. Let’s say you suspect that your website has to improve its usability. With web analytics, you can measure the effectiveness of your site usability. Then, based on the intelligence you gather, you can make the necessary changes. Due to the improvements you have made you may be able to improve your conversion substantially. As a result, you can measure the value of web analytics in terms of revenue.

The barriers to entry for adopting analytics technologies that can dramatically improve online businesses have never been lower. There are many inexpensive and even free options to start web analytics integrating into your business processes. Web analytics is not about technology. It is much more about people. Before you invest money in web analytics, you must invest in people. People within your organization must realize the importance of measuring your web presence.

Every business with a web presence must build a strategy around web analytics. Our goal is to get the highest possible value from KPIs. According to Forrester B2B, tech companies have realized 500-800% return on a 100K/yr in house analyst. Retail businesses realized 1000-3000% return on the same 100K/yr web analyst.

In the early days of online business, websites were built with ill-defined goals and very little consideration for ROI. If you want to succeed online today, you should not spend a dime without commercial benefit. Unless your decisions are based KPIs measure through your web analytics efforts, you are most likely to fail. You cannot compete without knowing exactly how effective your initiatives are. In every business, the focus is on the bottom line, and the same is true for web analytics.

Imagine how much more revenue you could be generating by analyzing the proper KPIs. Even better, imagine how much money your business is losing by not taking advantage of web analytics. Today, we have to necessary tools to make decisions based on data instead of intuition. We have to have a strategy to measure success and failure to maximize ROI. Always look at how much something costs. A bad business decision may cost loss of revenue. A business without web analytics will result in continuous bad decisions that is very likely will result in a failing business.

Winter: No Fun For Those With Weakened Immune Systems

Wintertime is a fun time for many people. Some look forward to participating in fun activities, such as skiing, ice skating and sledding. Some simply enjoy cold, brisk air instead of the hot, muggy days of summer. Although the winter months bring lots of fun for some people, it is also the season when people are more susceptible to illnesses such as influenza, common cold, and bronchitis.

Babies, especially newborns, are more vulnerable to colds and other viruses and bacteria because their immune systems haven’t yet become fully developed. This is why doctors often advise new parents against taking their newborns out in crowded stores and other public places, unless absolutely necessary. In large crowds, there are bound to be some sick individuals, coughing, sneezing, and spreading their germs throughout the area. Actually, there don’t even have to be sick people around in order to infect other people.

They can simply carry the virus or bacteria in their body, and when they touch certain surfaces, they transfer them, making them available for those with weakened immune systems to touch them, and subsequently become ill. This is especially easy for people who don’t practice good hygiene, such as hand washing. And babies are notorious for placing their hands and everything else into their mouths, which is of course an easy way for bacteria and viruses to be transmitted. Some places where people can really get sick are: Day care centers, air ports, doctor’s offices, shopping malls and hospitals. So, if these places can be avoided then a person will lessen their likelihood of becoming ill, but who can stay at home all the time? Not many people do, unless they are bedridden. Even babies must get out with their parents, when their parents have errands to run.

In fact, instead of going out less in the winter, many people go out more often. With shopping that needs to be done for Thanksgiving, and especially Christmas, there is no way for individuals to lessen the amount of time that they spend in the above-mentioned places—or is there? Actually, people can complete a great deal, if not all of their holiday shopping online. Many people have already discovered the ease of shopping this way. One particularly good website, which offers coupons in almost every category you could think of, is links attached below. This cool site also provides convenient links to various sites, and gives you the opportunity to save lots of money.

Wireless Internet Is A Political Issue… Again

All over the world ubiquitous broadband Internet access is bringing countries closer together. It surprises many when they find out that in China the average citizen has access to much faster download speeds and at a much lower cost than the average American. Of course the Chinese have to deal with the fact that they are viewing a censored Internet, but even that is getting better everyday. In Europe a person would be hard pressed to find a place they COULDN’T connect wirelessly to the Internet, while in the US users must go to a specific coffee shop or airport to do the same thing. It appears that the United States is behind the curve in offering affordable Internet access to its citizens, and short of socialized services, so what can be done?

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) introduced the Wireless Innovation Act of 2007 early this year to try and close the gap between the United States and other countries in the area of broadband Wireless Internet penetration within the consumer market. This very closely resembles the Wireless Innovation Act of 2006 sponsored by John Kerry (WINN) which failed to pass the previous year but has been reintroduced as well. Specifically the bill is intended to “make use of spectrum in the gaps or ‘white spaces’ between broadcast channels two and 51 when the transition from analog to digital television is complete in two years. With the capacity to transmit data over longer distances with less power, this prime spectrum, now reserved primarily for television broadcasting, could support a wide range of innovative wireless devices and services that aren’t useable in other frequencies”, says Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) who is also co-sponsoring the bill.

WINN ‘07 could be the ticket the country needs to increase the consumer market penetration of broadband wireless Internet, which would of course bring about new products and services both obvious and unknown. This type of legislature is designed to take fast, decisive action and correct an obvious problem. This of course means it will be delayed. So where are our ground breaking bills now?:

H.R.1597 – To require the FCC to issue a final order regarding television white spaces.
Sponsor: Rep Inslee, Jay [WA-1] (introduced 3/20/2007)

Latest Major Action: 3/21/2007 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet.

S.234 – A bill to require the FCC to issue a final order regarding television white spaces.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 1/9/2007)

Latest Major Action: 1/9/2007 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

It is clear the decisive bill isn’t exactly tearing its way through the hallowed halls of the House and Senate. Of course bills take time to pass, and there is a lot of pork to be added to this one yet so we still have time. So why exactly is this bill important to the United States if its just going to let its citizens surf the Internet more easily? John Kerry said, “The bill would serve communities large and small, enabling the delivery of broadband that will connect business owners with their customers, students with dynamic new learning resources and first responders with victims in crisis.” With that in mind, the bill seems a bit more relevant to the county as something more than an entertainment device.

Without Search Engine Optimisation Your Website Could Be Lost

Building a great internet site is a wonderful achievement. But it could also be a complete waste of your time and money unless potential clients can find it. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is one way to ensure your site is seen in the most crowded marketplace ever conceived.

SO WHAT IS SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION (SEO)?

To understand Search Engine Optimisation you must first consider how people actually look for – and eventually find – products and services on the web.

Research shows that more than 80 per cent of the world’s 290 million internet users (10 million of them in Australia) use search engines to find what they’re after.

There are many search engines available to consumers – the better known include Google and Yahoo! – but in general they all work the same way. Typically a person will enter a keyword or phrase into the search engine and immediately receive a list of recommended web pages.

Internet users are impatient, which means they seldom scan though more than a page or two of search results, and generally only access sites listed at the top of the page. If you want to be seen, your site must not only appear on a list of search results, it must rank towards the very top.

Open a search engine and type in a word or phrase someone searching for your company might use – if you fail to appear in a prominent position, chances are your site has not been search engine optimised. Without optimisation, your site is about as effective as an advertisement floating in the middle of the ocean.

HOW DO SEARCH ENGINES RANK INTERNET SITES?

Search engines regularly dispatch ‘spiders’ or ‘robots’ (aka bots) to collect information on websites. Using an algorithm – a set of complex formulas or rules – the search engine evaluates each website’s relevance and then ranks it accordingly.

These algorithms are unique to each search engine, they are highly secret and they change all the time. But in general they all obey a basic set of rules. That means it is possible improve your chances of a better ranking by ensuring your website has the most appropriate content, and that the content is structured in a search engine-friendly way – this process is known as Search Engine Optimisation.

Search Engine Optimisation is not an exact science. It requires trial and error, and there is never a guarantee of success. But without Search Engine Optimisation your website is almost guaranteed of not being seen.

Of course there are other ways of reaching potential clients. You could, for example, spend money to advertise on a search engine, and only have your advertisement appear when people search for particular keywords. That is valid way to increase your chances of reaching customers. But studies have shown people using the internet tend to trust and visit the free listings more than paid listings.

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED ON SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION?

First you need to find out if your site is actually being indexed by a search engine.

Open a search engine and type your company name in the search box. If you appear in the results it means that spiders or robots have located your site. They will place the site into a memory bank, and visit it from time to time to update their information.

If your site it not listed you could consider submitting your site to search engines. This will not guarantee that they will list you, but it won’t hurt to try. A word of advice – do not submit your site multiple times as this will only annoy the search engine people, and you need to be on their good side.

Some search engines will not accept submissions – they prefer to find your site themselves. And some simply draw their information from other search engines (a disclaimer should alert you to this practice), which makes it pointless submitting your site to them.

Once you are confident your site is being indexed, you need to identify keywords – these are the terms a potential visitor might enter into a search engine when looking for your product, service or company.

Finding the right keywords is a pivotal component of Search Engine Optimisation. There are applications that allow you to test each word by showing how popular it is and how often it is used – the result might surprise you.

A good way to find keywords is to visit a competitor’s website and see what it has listed. To do this, open their site and click on ‘view source’ – a heap of what looks like gibberish will come up, but find a line which says ‘

Wonders Of Working At Home

Working at home has so many benefits. It doesn’t matter if you have a home business or an employer, are doing Internet marketing or child care, are trying to make money online or fielding customer service calls.

Working at home makes you happy, makes you money, saves you money, keeps you gainfully employed, gives you more time wit your loved ones, gets you out of rush hour traffic, decreases your stress level, and makes you more productive which can lead to all sorts of benefits – raises, promotion, a successful home business and so forth.

Not only will you save on gas and car insurance and general auto upkeep (or public transportation costs) when you don’t have to commute to the office, but you won’t have to worry about your work wardrobe and the cost of dry cleaning, either. You won’t have to pay parking fees, and you may save money on child care. You’ll also realize a reduction in the cost of your auto insurance. Imagine telling your insurance agent that your commute miles are now zero.

While most of these benefits are obvious, the last needs some clarification. The single biggest demographic working at home is the single mother. . Consider that statistic with caution, however. For what you cannot do is assume that working at home will allow you to watch your children while you work from home. It just doesn’t work that way, nor should it. After all, how many toddlers do you know that are happy, or even safe, with their primary caregiver giving them half their attention? Not any. And how many employers would accept your giving half your attention to your work during your work hours? Not any. And how much of your Internet marketing are you really going to get done with a toddler screaming in your ear?

Where telework and parenting come together so nicely is the idea that your commute to and from work is cut from 20 or 40 or 60 minutes each way to one minute or even as few as 10 seconds. Your children will have more hours of your attention each day as a result of telework. And you’ll pay fewer child care hours. You may often, depending on your job and your employer, be able to work around your children’s hours, focusing on your job when they’re sleeping or napping and at school, focusing on your kids when they’re home and awake.

If you’re making money online, or working at promoting a Web site these are ideal for working around a child’s school and nap and needs-mommy schedule.

Yes, working at home can be terrific.

Anchor Text lets the search engines know the content of the web page it links to. The right Anchor Text improves your website’s search engine ranking.

Ways You Can Generate Cash Using Google Adsense

In many webmaster forums, you are likely to come across this question: “How can I make money with Google Adsense?” Google Adsense is arguably the most popular pay-per-click advertising program today. Many webmasters are earning considerable money by displaying Google Adsense on their sites.

Yes, it is very possible to make money with Google Adsense. There are several effective and proven ways you can do this. The best part is that they are not complicated ways; they are in fact very simple and easy to implement. Of course, exactly how much you make from Google Adsense largely depends on how much effort you put into your sites. Don’t fall into believing that you can make money from Google Adsense overnight. Like other types of work, you need to spend time as well as have the commitment and perseverance.

With all that said, you will learn three effective ways you can generate cash with Google Adsense — through niche sites, forums and blogs.

Niche Sites: Targeted Market Equals Targeted and Higher Adsense Clicks

The word “niche” is today’s buzz word. A niche is a specific market you want to focus on. If you are in the antique business, exactly what kind of antique do you deal with? Are you in the antique furniture business? antique dolls? antique cars? That’s your niche.

Niche websites are sites that are focused on very specific markets or audience. Instead of a broad category, you narrow down into a target market or audience. For instance, a guitar website can be further made specific and focus on Fender Stratocaster guitars. People who are into Fender Stratocaster guitars are your target audience. Google Adsense ads that appear on this particular niche website appeal to your target audience and visitors. By being specific, you can generate higher clicks to your Google Adsense, which translate to higher Google Adsense earnings.

If you want to maximize your Google Adsense earnings, put up several niche websites instead of one website devoted to a broad category or topic. Instead of putting up a website about cars, put up several small websites focused on car repairs, care restoration, antique cars and such. By narrowing down your website’s focus, you can attract targeted visitors who are likely to click on your Google Adsense ads.

Forums: Placing Google Adsense Ads that Stand Out

Do you run a highly active forum or online discussion board? If your forum receives a lot of traffic and has many members who regularly participate in online discussions, you can monetize your forum pages by inserting Google Adsense in them. While forum users are known to be “ad blind”, you can insert Google Adsense codes smartly.

For instance, you can make your Google Adsense ads stand out by using very bright colors. On niche sites, it is recommended that your Google Adsense ads blend in with the site. In online forums, however, you can make money with Google Adsense by making the ads stand out. You can also make Google Adsense appear after a certain number of posts. Many forum owners have discovered that Google Adsense ads placed at the bottom of the last post on every page generates a lot of clicks.

Blogs: Easy to Monetize with Google Adsense

Today, many are able to establish an online presence and have their voices heard. They do this by creating and maintaining their own blogs. In the last two years alone, literally hundreds of thousands of blogs have cropped up. Blog software like Wordpress and blog networks like Blogger make it easy for anyone, even the least techie, to set up his or her own blog and make money from it. There are bloggers who are reportedly making four-, five- and six-figure yearly income just by placing Google Adsense on their blogs.

Since Blogger is owned by Google, people with blogs on Blogger can easily integrate Google Adsense into their account. Even if you don’t have an account with Blogger, you can still make money displaying Google Adsense ads on Wordpress-powered blogs hosted on your server or third-party host. Blog software like Wordpress have Google Adsense plugins. This means you can easily insert Google Adsense ad codes in your blog posts with just a click of a button.

To make the most out of your Google Adsense ads, it is recommended that you place a Google Adsense unit after each of your blog posts. If you are posting a long article, consider placing a Google Adsense unite in the middle of the article. And if you technically inclined (or you aren’t afraid of a challenge), you can insert Google Adsense codes into your blog template. Do it this way and your Google Adsense ads will display on all your blog pages.

There you have it — three ways you can generate cash from Google Adsense. Niche sites, forums and blogs are only three of the many ways you can make money from Google Adsense. If you are new online, start with a blog. Create an account on Blogger.com and test out the waters. As you become comfortable and acquire more technical skills, you can advance to creating niche sites and starting your own online forums and monetizing with Google Adsense.

Tips For Running An Effective Ppc Campaign: Strategies For Online Marketing Success

Pay-per-click campaigns can be incredibly effective traffic generators. Although achieving PPC search engine rankings is more difficult and competitive than when it began, the number of online users that employ search engines has grown substantially, so there is a significantly larger audience to be reached.

Many eCommerce entrepreneurs have employed pay-per-click ads and lost serious money simply because they didn’t understand what they were doing. According to Internet marketing strategist Catherine Seda, of http://DriveTrafficToday.com, you can avoid blowing your budget by following some general guidelines in your PPC campaign:

• Chase the Tail

Stay away from broad keyword phrases, and even single keywords. Cautions Seda, “They’re too wide-ranging to hit a targeted audience, and you’re going to have significantly more competition bidding.” For example, if you sell car insurance, bidding on the search term “insurance” will pit you against other car insurance agencies, as well as health insurance, life insurance, home owner’s insurance, and the list goes on.

Dig deeper with your keyword list to find “tail terms” that are made up of low cost, lower volume words, but that are super-focused. Generally a tail term is made up of multiple words: like the phrase “free car insurance quote.” It might not pull in massive amounts of traffic, but it’s going to convert very well because a user who types in that phrase is the precise audience you’re targeting.

• Read the Fine Print

When you set up your PPC campaign, you’re going choose not only your keywords, but also your estimated budget. Once your bill hits the specified amount, your ads stop appearing in the search results for the remainder of that budget period. This allows you to know exactly what your maximum bill will be.

It’s very important to be aware that this is normally an estimated daily budget, not an estimated monthly budget. Don’t just race through the set-up, plugging in numbers without paying attention to what they mean. If $1,000 is your maximum monthly budget, you want to make sure that you aren’t topping out at $1,000 in clicks each day. Not paying attention is an excellent way to rack up serious charges that can sink your business in a matter of days or weeks.

• Make It Easy

Don’t just dump your visitors on your web site’s homepage and expect them to do all the work. If they have to search around your site, you’ll likely lose them. If they found your ad by searching for a particular product, take them directly to the page that sells that product. If they clicked on your ad promoting one dollar shipping, make sure the page on which they land highlights the fact that you provide shipping for one dollar.

It’s also important to ensure that the information that caused the user to click on your ad is above the fold. (In other words, make sure it’s immediately visible within the constraints of the monitor). Don’t make users scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it, because they might not. You want to instantly reiterate the message that your ad promotes, and reinforce to visitors that they’re in the right place.

By implementing good PPC practices, you can help ensure the traffic that you drive converts well, and that your campaign is profitable. States Seda, “Any E-Biz owner can benefit from a smart, well-run pay-per-click campaign. Just be careful to keep your ads and your marketing message focused, and you’ll see a big difference in your bottom line.”

Successful Home Office Decorating Schemes

Artists have known for centuries that color schemes taken from the Color Wheel have a dramatic effect on the final impact of their paintings.  There are hot, energetic colors which leap off a canvas, and there are cool, soothing colors which recede, drawing the viewer’s eye into the distance.  The ways in which these colors are juxtaposed can completely change the emotions a painting evokes, and they can do the same for interior spaces.

Interior designers who specialize in home office decorating know that the color schemes they choose will have an affect on the mindset of the home office worker, so they determine in advance if a calming, or invigorating, style of home office decorating is more appropriate.

Those home workers who expect spend several hours at a stretch in the home office should do a bit of self-assessment, and determine if they would benefit more from a home office decorating scheme which helps them stay calm and focused, or a home office decorating scheme which makes them feel energetic and confident. For more info see http://www.i-homeofficefurniture.com/Cheap_Home_Office_Furniture/ on Cheap Home Office Furniture

Calm, Cool, and Collected

The cool colors–blues, purples, and greens–will provide a low-impact home office decorating scheme which quiets the mind and allows the worker to focus on a project instead of his or her surroundings.  If concentrating is one of your weak points, stay at the cool end of the color spectrum.

Spicing It Up

If, on the other hand, you feel like falling asleep as soon as you sit down and turn your computer on, you will benefit from a home office decorating scheme which features warm colors.  Yellows, oranges, and reds make their surroundings much more invigorating, and stimulate the brain.  In office spaces, however, it’s a good idea to limit the pure reds, yellows, and oranges to accents and have larger areas colored with more diluted warm shades like russet.  You don’t want to go overboard with your home office decorating scheme.

The Neutral Zone

If you have a very small office space, consider a neutral home office decorating scheme.  Light neutral colors, when used without too many dark accents, can make a small space appear much roomier.  And neutral schemes adapt beautifully to any type of furnishings.  If you find them too boring for your home office decorating scheme, just enliven them with touches of your favorite warm or cool pure colors.  You’ll have enough color to soothe or energize you, and a home office which seems much more airy and spacious than its dimensions give it any right to be!
